Precaution while using the drug
•  Inform your doctor properly and follow all the guidelines and directions that are recommended to you by him/her

•  Internal cortisones increase blood sugar and blood pressure. They may worsen diabetes and hypertension. Internal cortisones can also worsen or activate peptic ulcers. Inform your doctor if you have ever had a stomach or duodenal ulcer

•  Unfortunately, when cortisones are used for many months or years, serious side effects are common. Long-term cortisone treatment is recommended only when a disease threatens or seriously disturbs a patient's life.

•  When cortisones are take daily for long periods of time, the skin can thin and bruise quite easy. Daily application of alpha hydroxyacids can help to lessen these side effects.

•  There have been rare cases of people becoming psychotic or depressed during short treatments of Prednisone. Special attention is required for such cases

•  There also are cases of people developing osteonecrosis of the hip while on short-term Prednisone. This problem can only be treated by total hip replacement that requires a major operation
